06-26-08 Jackie Collins : Jackie Collins, the author of more books than my little bookshelf can hold, visited with her fans and admirers at Outwrite Bookstore and Coffeeshop Thursday, June 26, 2008. She read somme from latest novel "Married Lovers" then threw the time to the audience in an extended Q & A session, whereupon she illustrated such poise and grace as I have seldom see. Thanks to Philip Rafshoon, owner, for bringing Jackie to, what she described "one of the best audiences she ever had." Several invited guests were given the royal treatment aboard her beautifully appointed Tour Buss. It was aa fantastic night. I hope you'll enjoy the photos. - Gary

06-21-08 Leslie Jordan : Emmy Award winning Comedian Leslie Jordan was onhand at Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeehouse to read from and sign copies of his first book, My Trip Down the Pink Carpet, released by Simon & Schuster. In the book, Jordan reveals very personal details of his journey to fame, including his recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction. The honesty required to fight those demons allowed Jordan to become "the most authentic I have ever been in my life." Well over 150 customers waited in line for their chance to meet Jordan and have their books or other memorabilia autographed. I appreciate being selected as both Outwrite's official photographer of the event and being chosen by Mr. Jordan to document the videotaping of his current one man show, which will be hopefully picked up by cable networks like Logo or Showtime.

03-27-08 Rich Merritt - "Code of Conduct" : Rich Merritt, author of "Secrets of a Gay Marine Porn Star," was at Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeeshop to read excerpts from his latest work, his first novel, "Code of Conduct." Described as "a deeply compelling exploration of the power of loyalty--to friends, lovers, country, and the unwavering dictates of our own hearts," after listening to the author speak on his own experiences it was easy to relate to him. Most customers who got their copies autographed were thrilled to spend a few moments sitting with Mr. Merritt and take time to actually learn more about the author. There's a connection with "Elton" that I won't give away here, but it made for some very surprised moments. Enjoy!
